Challenger Spirit
Disturbing the status quo
At the heart of any successful Challenger organisation are people creating and living in a state of uncertainty and difference of opinion whilst they do their best to disturb and disrupt.
Creating an organisational culture and spirit to succeed, Challengers find ways of addressing the question ‘does it have to be like this?’ This infects their leadership, culture, and engagement; encourages a willingness to break with convention and allows them to be more innovative, energetic, contentious, and productive.
The work of a Challenger and developing the organisational spirit is available to all of us with sufficient courage, awareness, insight, and application and to keep going in the face of objection, pessimism, or complaint.
Adopting a Challenger position in organisational life inevitably brings with it a degree of relational anxiety, being able to authentically live with it and thrive on it. If we can allow some personal vulnerability, express ourselves courageously and trust the support around us then we can use our anxiety in a way that benefits our organisations and enriches our lives.
